Following on from the initial bare-bones sketch of its upcoming P1 GTR, McLaren has released another hint of what form the track-only P1 will take with a bit of concept art. Scheduled to debut at the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in August, the P1 GTR is designed to show what the P1 design can do with the gloves off. In the swings and roundabouts world of high-performance cars, design goes in predictable cycles.

For an artist like Adam Lister, who grew up on video games and pop culture, you would assume he’d be making digital art or some type of computer-aided design as an adult. Instead, Lister’s technique is as old world as it gets: watercolors. “I like the flow and transparency of watercolor,” Lister says. “I began using watercolors back in high school, and I never really stopped.” But don’t expect watercolor paintings of flowers or landscapes.

Ask Hohokum's two creators to describe their game, and they actually get kind of stumped. "We always try to dodge the question, and just give them a controller and let them play," Hohokum co-creator Ricky Haggett said. Haggett and game artist Richard Hogg can eventually get around to explaining Hohokum, a whimsical adventure in which you use a flying creature to prod and explore several brightly colored connected worlds. The game, which debuts for PlayStation 4 on Aug.

Yesterday Microsoft released their quarterly financial statement and while the numbers weren’t all that great in some segments their cloud offerings are going strong. Because of restructuring, Nokia write offs and changes in the way Microsoft is reporting taxes it’s a bit difficult to sort through all the numbers but for the most part revenues from consumer products (other than Xbox) were either slightly off or flat but their professional line of products saw substantial gains.

An Apple patent for a smartwatch has been revealed, with the device being called the iTime at one point rather than the iWatch (the latter being what the rumoured device has always been called in previous speculation). Spotted by Apple Insider, the patent largely refers to a smart wristband which can be attached to a portable media device (like the iPod nano, so this will be the watch bit, in other words).

Those holding one-time private-investor darling Judges Scientific (LSE:JDG) woke up to a nasty shock this morning as the shares opened around 30% lower. As I write, they've bounced back a bit and now sit about 17% down from last night's close, at 1460p. The AIM-listed firm specialises in the design and production of scientific instruments.

Mobile banking ought to be easy, but it can be a bit of a mess. Your bank might not support mobile, or you might have several accounts you need to manage. Dare I suggest you install yet another mobile banking app? Barclays Pingit can be used regardless of whether or not you are a Barclays customer, and Barclays customers can see all their account transactions through the app. You need to provide the app with your sort code and account number, and it caters for joint accounts.

I know it’s a little crazy to talk about how well a future operating system will do, especially when Windows 9 hasn’t even been officially announced yet. But we do already know a fair bit about Windows 8.1’s successor and that, I think, is enough to build a reasonable case. Windows 8.x is a flop. As much as I love it, I’m a realist. The operating system has taken 20 months to grab just 12.54 per cent market share.

With just about every aspect of music production going digital, one budding DJ is looking to march to the beat of his own drum.
